Have you ever gone to read a web page, and received some kind of error message, telling you that the page has been removed, or that’s it’s temporarily not available?

Frustrating isn’t it?

What if…you knew about a secret Google magic trick, that allowed you to see the missing web page, even if the website owner had completely removed the page from their website…wouldn’t that be very cool, not too mention really handy?

Before I tell you ‘exactly’ how to do this, let’s look at why web pages suddenly go missing or develop errors.

1. The most common reason is human error. Chances are, the website owner or someone they have updating the pages for them, probably made a few changes here and there, and saved the file incorrectly. All it takes is one miss-typed letter in the file name, and you won’t be able to view it.

2. Often a particular web page may be removed deliberately by the website owner. This might happen if the information on the page was time sensitive, or they might decide to pull the plug on a controversial article.

3. On other occasions a page may be moved to a different area of the website.

4. This is a popular one. Sometimes websites receive unexpected traffic surges, and their servers struggle to operate normally under the additional strain. When this happens, you may end up getting an error message if you try to access the website during this traffic spike. The page may be there, but you just can’t view it, because the server running the website, just hasn’t got enough power left to show it to you.

Fact is; there are many more reasons why web pages suddenly become unavailable. You will sometimes find that if you go back to view a web page a few hours later, that everything is back to normal.

However, I’m not here to tell you to come back later. I want to show you a quick way to access web pages when they are not available in the normal way. Using a very simple tool on the Google search engine.

Click over to Google.com, and type in a random search; anything you can think of.

In Google’s search results you will see the normal blue links and a description, which would normally take you to the web page being described.

If you click on that main blue link, you will be taken to the most up to date version of the web page. Now, if that page has recently been removed, or moved somewhere else, you will more than likely just get an error message.

When this happens to you, I bet you would normally just click your ‘back button’ and try the next listing in the search results, and I right?

Try This Instead…

Go back to Google’s search results and look to the right of the green web page address, underneath the page description. You will see a blue link titled ‘Cached’.

When Google updates their search results, they store the latest version of the web page in their ‘Cached’ database. Every time a new update is done, Google overwrites the older version of the Cached web page with the latest one.

When you click on the ‘Cached’ link next to a search result, it’s like viewing a ‘recording’ of the original page. Sometimes these Cached pages will only be a day or two old, other times you might see one that has been stored for over a month or even longer.

When you view a page in Google’s Cached database, there is an information bar at the top of the page, where amongst other things, Google tells you the date that the page was retrieved and stored in their database.

Next time you use Google to find information, and come across a web page error stopping you from viewing the page, hit your back button, and click on the Cached version of the search result. I’m sure you’ll find it a very handy little trick to know.

Here’s Another Trick

You might be thinking that using Google’s Cached database, is only really handy when you are using Google to search for something. That’s not the case.

Sometimes you might try and access a web page from your favorites menu, or maybe via a link on a website, or in an e-mail. If you get one of those blank error messages when you visit the page, try this:

1. Copy the web page address and then go to www.Google.com.

2. Paste the whole address into Google’s search form and hit enter.

3. Goggle will normally return a listing for the page if it has it stored in its database. Look down the page and you will see a link to Google’s Cache of the page you performed a search for. Click on the Cache link, and you can view the stored page, just as you can if you use Google for normal searches.

I hope you found this useful, happy searching!

One of the key things to remember when developing your web-site presence is to always evaluate your competition. See what’s working for them; how they market their products and services, and even evaluate their KEYWORD and DISCRIPTION tags.

The key points of using these two Meta Tags, is optimization!

Evaluate your Keywords: look at your web-site and evaluate it services and products, be sure to do a search in www.Google.com to help you pick the keywords that your potential clients may be looking for.

The next thing is to evaluate your site content to see just how often you’re using these keywords, the biggest mistake that web-masters make is creating their Meta Tag Description and Keywords and not including them in their content pages.

To get the best results, is to ensure that you use as many of your keywords and discretion tags throughout your entire site.

The next thing is your products or images, be sure to include some of those keywords in your

Google, Yahoo, and Msn all use the following tags:

Be sure to include these in your Meta Tag, as it tells spider bots to search links to other pages on your site, increasing your chance of getting better indexed in the search engines.

The next key point is to also ensure you have created page titles for each section of your site, this is another mistake most make and they usually brand each page with their site name, the mistake is that, when your potential client types in to Google for a specific item or product you lesson your chances on being pulled up.

Name each section of your site using the Keywords you developed for your web-site, this ensuring higher page ranking in Google, and you not being found within the first returned results but ending up on page 15 etc.

Google looks also for inbound links, these being partner web-sites that have agreed to become a link partner or affiliate of your site.

Also update your content regularly, Google loves content, content, content, the more rich content you provide using your keywords the better you page rankings will be. The best method we found is to update your pages 2 to 3 times a week, for example Monday, Wednesday and again Sunday.

Thus ensuring the Google spider-bot will return regularly as so will your potential clients, as visitors are most likely to visit a web-site that is updated with new and interesting topics or items.

Now use Google, and do a search for your competition, within the first page results returned looked for potential link partners, which offer the same resources or products as you.

Contact the administrator or web-master simply asking them to link exchange with you. Most sites already offer a link exchange program or an affiliate program. These are perfect ways to create inbound links to your site that have already established Google page rank.

List your site in Link Directories that offer a specific category for your services, these are also excellent ways to create inbound links as the more inbound links you have generated to your web-site the higher the page rank in Google.

The key points to getting your site noticed is to optimize the keywords and use them threw out your site. Get quality link partners that have the same services or products you offer. The reason for this is if you link to a Tupper ware site and you offer fine wine, it isn’t going to do you much good as there is no common denominator. List your sites in Link Directories that offer a specific category that best fits your site content and services.

With learning about online promotion, there is so much information out there about "what you should be doing" to promote you business. This tutorial will be to inform you about what you SHOULDN’T DO!

What are (FFA’s) Free For All Sites & Link Farms?

These types of sites can be recognized by their one purpose. To list 100’s, maybe 1000’s of "One Line Ads" on all on one page.

What was the initial purpose?

A few years back when this form of promotion was very popular, everyone was posting their one line ads on these types of sites for more traffic to their site and a better "link popularity". It was soon realized that "FFA" sites don’t do either.

How can adding a small, one line ad accompanied by 100’s of others that isn’t related to each other benefit you???

THEY CAN’T!

The only people they benefit are spammers…

Here’s why!

Once you submit your one line classified ad, you automatically give the owners of the FFA sites to send you messages. At the same time, there are 1000’s of marketers who are gathering your e-mail to do the very same thing.

FFA’s are like being in heaven to spammers…

Honestly though, have you ever spent the time to visit a site from these lists?

Do you honestly want to ruin your e-mail just from posting one time??? I guarantee you that your inbox will be full within a matter of weeks.

On another note, Google is actively searching these FFA sites and penalizing them. They offer no use to visitors. Please do your business a favor, never list and FFA sites on your site, you might be subject to being penalized as well from Google.

Once that happens, you’ll be spending most of your time trying to recover from the loss.

If your initial intensions are to build a better "Link Popularity", download our FREE ebook "Link Popularity Handbook" and learn what you should be doing…

We’ve all seen the email spam professing to submit your site to an incredible 45,000 search engines for $19.95 or some ungodly claim such as this. Do you read this trash? If so, I’d like to clarify that this is nothing more than a spammers attempt to steal your money and is basically useless.

Have you seen the others that guarantee #1 search engine rankings? Insert that into the round file as spam message #2. This is a false claim and guarantee and if ANY company tries to promote this guarantee put your money in your pocket and run as fast as you can in the opposite direction.

Here are the facts…

There are simply not 45,000 legitimate search engines out there. The truth is there are about 8 major search engine players and these 8 supply results to many other smaller engines and directories. Most of the other sites that theses spammers are calling search engines or directories are actually nothing more than spammy link pages or link farms as they are sometimes called and submitting your site to this places can and in most cases does have an adverse affect on your website. In some instances your site can be banned from the major search engines leaving you to pick up the pieces, buy a new domain, build a new site etc etc. Is it worth your $19.95 and the risk?

False guarantees in regards to search engine rankings and internet marketing have been around for awhile now and the fact remains that NO search engine marketing or search engine optimization company can guarantee you anything in regards to search engine rankings. As I said above, if they do..run quickly!! A legitimate and professional search engine marketing firm will state the facts and will not make these false guarantees because we know it is the search engine engineers and their staff that control the ranking algorithms and not the search engine optimization firm. In short, the only thing an SEO firm CAN guarantee you is that they will perform research, optimize your site to ensure that you have good quality content for both the search engines and your target audience in the hopes that you garner top 10 positions. The other thing that a legitimate SEO firm can offer you as a guarantee is that they will continually strive to re-optimize your site for current search engine algorithms etc. in an effort to keep your site in the top 10 once it is there. No search engine optimization firm is a Google search engine engineer and even if they were there are still no guarantees with how the search algorithm will rank the sites submitted to the index.

The message here to anyone considering hiring an SEO firm is to find an honest one who will tell you the truth, one that you trust and one with consistent proven results. Oh, and don’t forget to trash that spam!

So how do you get a top listing in Google and how do you get into Google quickly.

Lets begin with the latter. You can submit your site using Googles submit site tool but amazingly enough this is NOT the fastest way to get listed.

Here’s the secret to getting listed in Google like lightening PRESS RELEASE’S

Yep issue a press release relating to your website you will see your site in all the major search engines in 3 or 4 days. Here’s a link to one of my press releases http://pressreleases.newspad.com/pr/20054/pr224817.html

To issue a press release go to http://prweb.com
It’s free to do.

Ok now that your sites in Google how are we going to get a top spot for keywords related to our site. Well I’m afraid to tell you this is no easy process it could possibly take months even years! But with some luck and the right tools it is achievable.

There are two keys to getting a high ranking

1) Keywords
2) High Page Rank Websites Linking To Your Website

Lets look at keywords first. So to go about finding these keywords we are going to use some free tools

1) Overture Keyword Tool -
http://inventory.overture.com/d/searchinventory/suggestion/

2) Wordtracker - http://wordtracker.com

Using these two tools you can search keywords related to your product/website & find out which ones are searched a lot and which ones have very little competition.

What you want are keywords middle of the road i.e. not as much competition & not as much searches.

Once you have decided on your keywords, try & get 40 or 50. You need to make sure these keywords feature all over the body of you website.

Make sure to put the most searched keywords in your title & headings.

Now you need to go about getting other websites to link to yours. You need to find websites related to yours but sites that are not in competition with you and email the webmasters of these sites and ask them for a link.

To help you do this more quickly and easily there is a great piece of software available. Here’s the link http://www.axandra-link-popularity-tool.com/index.htm

I hope this information will help you achieve your search engine goals.

What is link popularity?

The quantity of links in different websites pointing to your sites is called link popularity of your website. The more popular is your site the more links you get from other websites and vice versa.

Why is it so important?

Links from high traffic websites furnish you with constant stream of visitors. Other website marketing efforts i.e. email marketing, might give good influx of visitors while the campaign lasts but the quantity diminishes once the campaign is over. Links are a different story! Once a link is installed, it might start bringing a steady flow of visitors all the time, depending on the website where the link was placed.

Link popularity is also crucial to search engine ranking of your website. Search engines, especially Google, claim that link popularity is one of the key factors that they consider in their search algorithm while indexing a website. What would be the rank of a website in a search result depend on its link popularity in a very big way.

So, how can you conduct an effective link popularity development campaign and build traffic for your website?

Content is the king

Prior to start a link popularity campaign, you should seriously question yourself, what would be the reason for the other sites to post a link pointing to your website? Most high traffic sites are quite picky about putting links, and won’t do it without any apparent reason.

If your site boasts quality content that the visitors of other sites might find valuable, chances are there that those sites would be interested in posting a link of your site on their relevant web pages. High quality content that gets updated regularly will definitely help you getting more links and subsequently more visitors. If even you are just a web store, you can still add much sought-after content to your site, such as, detail product information, articles related to the specific products, comparison tables, etc.

If it is really difficult to get relevant content for your website, try getting a valuable tool that might be interesting for visitors and incorporate it to your website. You must have noticed that free search engine submission forms are common on Search Engine Optimization sites. Giveaways like e-books, white papers, articles and other freebies are also good for creating interest to a website.

Submit website to various directories

When your new website is up and running, first thing you should do is to submit your site to many search directories such as, Yahoo!, DMOZ etc. available on the Internet. Not only, this will help you get quality backward links to your site, this is also the fastest method for your site to get crawled by search engines spiders and get indexed by them.

Don’t underestimate the value of the many regional and industry specific directories. Try submitting your site as many as possible relevant local directories. Examples of these directories are municipal business directory, local chamber of commerce directory etc.

If you are a seller of, for example, metal related products; get your site enlisted in as many metal industry associated directories as you can manage.

Get reciprocal links

Since backward links are so important, building link popularity by exchanging links with other websites should be a priority in your online marketing effort.

Which are the websites that you should consider to get backward links to your website? Your objective should be – not just having any backward link from any site, the sites that you are getting reciprocal link has to be relevant to the content of your website as well. First of all, if you get a link from a website which has nothing in common with your site, you, most probably, will not receive any traffic from that site. The second and most important issue is – the search engines, while calculating your website’s rank in a specific keyword search result, consider, mainly, the backward links which are relevant to your site.

Search engine Google uses a unique Page rank system to determine how relevant your website is. Your site’s Page Rank depends on backward links to your site. However, if the page from where your website gets the backward link has more outbound links then incoming ones, the value of this link gets reduced. A link to your site will have the biggest impact on your Page rank:

• If the page itself has a good page rank.

• There are very few outbound links from the page.

To check out your site’s Page rank, download the Google Toolbar from http://toolbar.google.com/ and install. After that, go to your website. On the tool bar, you will see the rank of your index page in a scale of 0 to 10. The rating is considered good if it is five or more.

Make sure, while exchanging links you select the websites that have page rank no less than yours.

How to find the websites that you should swap links with?

The easiest way is to check out the backward links to the website of your most prominent Internet based competitor or industry leader of your field. Other option is to run a search based on the most relevant keywords to your website and check out backward links to the first ten websites.

In the search box of Google, Altavista and AllTheWeb type link: and then the URL of the site to view all the sites that have backward links to this site. Visit these sites to find the best one to exchange links and then contact them with a nice email.

I will also suggest you to check out the number of visitors the site receives before offering a link swap. The tool that will help you figuring out the quantity of traffic a site gets, you can download from http://download.alexa.com/ by clicking on the button “Free Tool Bar”. This is also a very good tool to analyze web traffic. The tool also shows which other similar sites people tend to visit alongside with the site that you are viewing now.

If a site gets significantly less visitors than yours, what is the point of having a link form that site?

While looking for websites to swap links, don’t forget about your partners, suppliers and buyers. These sites are capable of bringing major traffic and are indeed relevant to your site’s subject matter!

Your link popularity campaign should also include the following methods. However, mind it, these techniques require tedious work from your side.

Issue Press Releases

Press releases are a good way of exposing your website to mass and increase your link popularity. Whenever you are coming up with a new product or service, overhauling your website, adding new elements to your site or conducting a seminar, etc. you should issue a press release. It is also a very cost effective method of getting publicity for your site. To broadcast your press release you can use one of the free media release sites: http://www.prweb.com

Write Articles

If you are dedicated to popularize your website, you must have substantial knowledge of the subject related to your website. Why not, write articles on your subjects of expertise and circulate them on the Internet and post on your website? Apart from this will add good content to your website, if other websites and newsletters publish your articles, you will get free publicity and increase your link popularity.

Build an Affiliate Program

If you sell a product or service through your website, you should seriously consider developing an affiliate program for your site. An affiliate program is when a visitor from your affiliate’s site comes to your site using the link that you provided to the affiliate and buy something; the affiliate will get a commission from you. The affiliate program can expand your business substantially. Since your affiliates require posting your links on their sites, this increases your link popularity as well.

Participate in Discussion Groups and Forums

This is also a great way of increasing your link popularity. There are literally thousands of discussion groups and forums on every conceivable subject on the Internet. You should actively participate in some of them, those which are most relevant to your area of expertise. The signature along with your website address that you post there while asking a question or answering to a question also boosts your link popularity.

Link Exchange Programs

You can also participate one of the link swap programs available on the Internet. Unfortunately, most of the automated link exchange offers that you receive through them are random and irrelevant to your site. But, however, I would suggest you to give them a try, as chances are there that you still might receive some good offers. You can also actively search for sites to swap links in their directories.

Development of link popularity is an on going process. You have to work on this constantly. But, the outcome that you might achieve from your endeavor also could be significant.

It’s come to my attention over the years that many people will do almost anything to achieve high rankings in the search engine. Some use software programs to generate pages for search engines, some steal articles written by others and claim them to be their own writings etc.

To provide a little insight as to our findings in regards to the aforementioned I’d like to provide some facts that we’ve found to be true over the years. Producing good well written content pages for your site and turning those pages into a profit is just not as simple as using some of the techniques mentioned above.

The fact of the matter is this; you can use the techniques (black hat) techniques as an attempt to find a silver bullet solution to your ranking and traffic desires but ultimately it is good quality content that the search engines love. It is that same content that will turn your website visitors in to sales and leads.

So the moral of this writing is to do the work, don’t take shortcuts or use techniques that would surely get yourself banned and create good quality pages that will more than likely turn into a profit making machine on your website. You see, traffic and rankings don’t sell your products and services; good quality content, good customer service and well written sales pitches (without being over the top) ultimately get you the conversions you seek.

There are more than 105 million of them in the United States. Worldwide, there could be at least 250 million of them. Them, according to statistics from the Nielsen/Net Ratings service, is the number of active Web surfers. 250 million in the whole world? The figure is more than the populations of Canada, Australia, Great Britain, and a few non-English speaking countries combined. That’s a lot of them!

With so many active surfers around, you would think Webmasters and site owners have an easy time attracting them. Actually, they face an uphill battle to bring visitors and, more importantly, consumers to their Web sites. And a Web site without traffic is like a store built in the middle of the desert. You could have the greatest products and most attractive Web design around, but they’re worthless if no one visits them.

There is one way, however, to turn your Web site into an oasis of business, a way to drive as much traffic to your site as your server can handle: a classified ad.

More on that later. First, all Web builders and site owners should know the basic and time-tested ways to attract traffic to their Web site. The key to all of these methods is to attract the right Web surfers. You want what experts call “targeted visitors,” or people who are actually interested in what you’re selling. To guarantee that this happens, you should follow this checklist of Web traffic golden rules:

Step 1: Optimize your Web pages. Webmasters in the know take the time to set their meta tags. These tags, or codes, are hidden keywords in the Web page that tell search engines like Google and Yahoo exactly what your site is all about. A meta tag, for instance, could be “designer handbags,” “sporting equipment,” or whatever else you happen to be selling. These keywords tell the search engine to direct all handbag or sports shoppers to your site.

Step 2: List your site with every search engine out there. For this step, you simply need to surf over to Google, AltaVista, Yahoo, MSN, and other search engines. Click onto their customer service page, where they allow Web builders and site owners to manually submit their site addresses.

Step 3. Spice up your site with interactive features. With articles, newsletters, offers, promotions, and discounts, you give your targeted visitors a reason to stay at your site once they find it. More importantly, you give them reasons to come back and tell their friends about the site. Word of mouth is one of the best, and cheapest, forms of advertising on the planet.

Step 4. Exchange banner ads with friends and with other companies that you do business with. Banner ads are those eye-catching designs at the top and bottom of Web pages. They’re like the billboards of the Internet superhighway. But with these online billboards, a simple click transports the Web surfer directly to your Web site.

Step 5. Exchange Web links with friends and business associates. This, Webmasters and site owners, could be the most important way to drive Web traffic to your site. All of the major search engines rank sites by measuring how many links come to and leave from your Web site.

So links are a way to measure how worthwhile and how legitimate your site is. The better this measurement, the better chance your site will have to show up well in Web surfers’ searches. In other words, these links could be the difference between your site being listed on page 20 of a Google search results, or on page 1.

Building better Web links and search engine results—that’s where classified sites come into play. Some of the most savvy classified sites on the market now offer Web links in their ads. These links lead right to your business’ home page.

Not only are these links convenient one-click ways for more customers to reach your site. They also boost your search engine rankings.

Of course, for business owners, classified sites have so many other benefits, too.

• Unparalleled exposure. Classified sites are like online malls. Not only will you get exposure from shoppers coming specifically to find your goods. You get “spill over” attention from shoppers who came for another item but then start browsing through all of the other ads in the classified “mall.”

• A new arsenal of Web sites. Having online classified ads is like setting up multiple new Web sites across the Internet. Unlike your own original site, these classified ads come with low-cost IT support, security, and advertising.

• Incredible growth opportunities. Businesses and individuals selling on online classified sites pull in more than $1.95 billion a year, according to the statistics firm Kelsey Group. That figure does not even include money from eBay.

• Money for nothing. As valuable as classified sites are, many of the best ones charge very little or absolutely nothing to set up your ads.

Add up all of these numbers—250 million active Web surfers in the world, $1.95 billion in classified sales, and $0 cost—and your Web business is sure to come out in the positive.

After spending substantial time and efforts the big day came when you finally published your website on the Internet. You are now ready to show your website to the world. But, with over a billion pages vying for traffic how do you make people visiting your site?

Web promotion is an on going process. There are many methods of promoting websites, but, the first and foremost step that you have to take to generate traffic for your website is to submit your site to major search engines and directories. For most of the sites search engines are the primary source of first time visitors.

How important are the search engines? Data show that more than 80% of Internet users find the sites they’re looking for through search engines. Over 57% of Internet users search the Internet everyday. Up to 450 Million searches take place in a day and most interestingly, 55% of all Internet purchases originate at a search engine.

Before you start submitting your website to the search engines, you have to understand that you want your prospective audience to find you when they search for a site similar to you using specific keywords. Now, you know that when a person runs a query on a search engine for a website, usually he looks no further then first three pages of relevant results. You have to figure out a way how to get within those three pages. Better even if you can get yourself within top ten search results. Considering that a query usually delivers millions of pages — this is not an easy task!

As the search engines want to deliver most relevant pages at the top, they use highly sophisticated and complex algorithms to rank websites. But the main aspects, that they consider in order to optimize your ranking position, are your targeted keywords, relevancy of the site contents and value of the links that are pointing to your site.

Keywords

Target the wrong keywords and either you don’t get any visitor or you get the visitors that you really don’t need. How can you figure out which are the right keywords for you?

If you are confused about the words that you should target to get the best result, start your search from one of your successful competitors’ website. Check the source codes of the Index page of the website. It should not be difficult for you to figure out what are the keywords that they are targeting. Since a broad keyword like computer, textile etc. generates millions of search results, you have to try to find words as specific and as segmented as possible.

For example: if you are a textile company that sells fabrics and one of the best selling items of yours is jeans fabrics let’s see what should be your targeted keyword. A query on Google shows that the word “fabric” brings 5,640,000 results. Way too much for you to even try get at the top! The next search of “jeans fabric” gets 148,000 results. Still a lot! If stonewashed jeans fabric is one of the items that you sell, let’s see what we get from a query on it. Just 602 results! Well, this is a number you can deal with! Now if you use a few proper optimization mechanisms, chances are there that in no times you may get yourself on the first ten of this search result.

If you know the broad keywords that you should target but don’t have any idea how to make it more specific, use this little tool from Overture to show you what queries people make relevant to this keyword. Click here for the tool.

Place keywords in right locations

For search engines the page title is the most important part of the page. Make sure that you use your targeted keyword over there. For the previous example your title may look like: ‘Supplier of Quality Stonewashed Jeans Fabric’.

Use your keywords in different forms in Meta tags and Description. Use singular and plural variations of the words. Since search engines also look at the content of your page, try using keywords in your headlines and don’t forget to mention them in the first paragraph of the page.

But do not over do it! If the search engines feel that you are over using a word to lift your ranking, they may consider it as spamming, and block your website from their listing.

Content is the king

According to research, the primary reason for people to be on the Internet is information. People want information, quality information, lots of it and in most of the cases for free! This is the reason why the search engine spiders are created to look for good, relevant textual contents. If you are looking for a top position on a specific search, your website must have quality relevant content.

If yours is a website that only sells product or services, you may ask, how can you possibly have enough content? Apart from detail description of the products or services that you provide, you should also emphasize on the benefits of the products. If you have related to your products articles, whitepapers etc. you must post them on your site as well. It’s important to post quality information related to your products or services as this also position your website as a knowledgeable leader in your respective industry and create interest among your audience to revisit the site.

Try renewing information on your site on a regular interval. This, as well, will increase repeat visits from people and the search engine spiders.

Submission to search engines

Once you are ready to submit your site to search engines, all you have to do is to go to the relevant search engine site, fill up the form there and submit. You can do it manually for each search engine separately or you can use programs to do it automatically. If you miss a search engine, you don’t have to worry about it much, as the search engine spiders or “Bots”, as they are also called, constantly look for new websites to index. However, it’s a good idea to submit to the major search engines and directories regularly. You should also resubmit your website to the search engines in order to expedite the process of indexing after each significant change you made to the site.

At a Search Engine Strategies conference in San Jose, CA; search marketing professionals debated and discussed whether or not reverse engineering search algorithms was the proper method of SEO or whether website viewers were the most important aspect of an SEO campaign. After much discussion it seems there is still a large disagreement in regards to this subject. Some believe reverse engineering is best and some believe viewer experience is the best solution. I’d like to shed a little light on this subject in regards to JUMP Internet Marketing and what our beliefs are based upon our own research and success over the past 10 years.

Reverse Engineering: We believe this is a necessary step in the SEO campaign however as we’ve mentioned time and time again to clients, prospects and anyone else who asks this question…it is not a silver bullet. There simply isn’t one. Reverse engineering search engine algorithms is important in any SEO campaign to be sure that your site has the “search engine spider food” that the search engine spiders are looking for. Your site must have this “food” in order to rank well once the search engine applies its algorithm to the pages of your site.

Viewer Experience and Perception: In regards to viewer perception; this is the most important aspect of an SEO campaign. As previously mentioned reverse engineering is important but ultimately it is your site’s content that speaks to your viewer and the piece of the SEO puzzle that will ultimately turn your website visitors into sales and leads. You certainly don’t want your viewers to read gibberish and have your company looking unprofessional to your viewers. This can have a very adverse affect when trying to convert your traffic.

The Fine Line – Proper Research: A successful SEO campaign ultimately consists of a balance of both reverse engineering and good quality content for a great viewer experience and perception. You must have the spider food, and good quality promotional content to convert your traffic. It is imperative that good quality keyword research be performed to ensure your website properly targets your desired audience. It is equally important to employ proper white hat (non-spam) SEO techniques to address the “spider food” issue.

If both of these things are not properly addressed you may find your site in a here today and gone tomorrow scenario. We at JUMP prefer to address all issues and be thorough in our SEO campaigns instead of searching for a silver bullet solution or a cookie cutter solution for our clients. Each site and SEO campaign is unique just as different products and markets are unique. There are no silver bullets and SEO is definitely not a one size fits all solution.

Using the methodology outlined here we’ve been highly successful over the years and continue to be so. Just remember, content is king whether it be spider content “food” or viewer content to entice your viewers into becoming a sale or lead. If you have the proper balance of both, success can be yours for the long term.
